One Winter Day

This view from my front yard looks southward. During the winter the sun is very low in the sky through the brief period of daylight and this causes all kinds of wonderful effects. We were having single digit temperatures and ice fog, which encased everything outside in ice. When backlit by the low afternoon sun, the effect if breathtaking. It is also fleeting and doesn't happen often. In fact, this particular view won't ever happen again because the tall black spruce recently blew down in a wind storm.

Because I used pastels to create this painting, it has to be framed under glass. I have placed it in a sliver frame to protect it, but this can always be changed.
